The Poly Post is Cal Poly Pomona’s student-run newspaper, providing coverage of the campus and local community to a student body of more than 27,000 and about 2,400 faculty and staff members. A staff of student journalists provides news to the campus community online through thepolypost.com, The Poly Post app for iPhone or Android, and through a weekly print edition available across campus every Tuesday. The Poly Post staff staff also produce a magazine every summer called the Bronco Guide. The Poly Post is published by the Communication Department and is supported by university funds and ad revenue.

In addition to serving as a valuable news source for the university, The Poly Post is a learning lab for multimedia journalism students, which follows Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy. There, student editors oversee a news team that compiles original content for both print and digital news products. The Poly Post covers breaking campus news, arts and entertainment, sports, and features an opinion page. Student editors also learn invaluable leadership, design, and news management skills. The Poly Post has earned several collegiate journalism awards, including awards from the California College Media Association.

The news lab prepares its editorial staff for competitive careers in multimedia journalism. Recent graduates have landed positions and internships at CBS' 60 Minutes, ABC7 (Los Angeles affiliate), CBS6 (San Diego affiliate), City News Service, LA Magazine, The Orange County Register, and KCET/PBS SoCal. Others have gone on to graduate programs, law school, or careers in public affairs.
