Peer Mentor Program

The Peer Mentor (PM) program in the Sociology Department is a high impact practice (HIP) program geared to creating an environment where mentorship occurs in a learning community.

We see ourselves as an Academic Community Committed to Excellence and Student Success (ACCESS). First-year Freshmen and Transfer students are immediately directed to the vast resources and opportunities available in the Sociology Department and at Cal Poly Pomona University. We see Peer Mentors and Faculty advisors working together to give our students a unique perspective of living, learning, and being engaged in the Cal Poly Pomona community through shared educational experiences. The PMs hold office hours, organize and facilitates workshops, and conduct research geared to supporting student success.
