Project Description:
Navigate data scraping of social media sites for a paper on Gender and Nationalism.

Student Assistant Role: 
The student will support data collection from social media platforms.

• Organize info into Excel
• Must be available in person for research discussions

Full Project Title: 
Archive Creation (Racial Violence Against Freed Persons During the Reconstruction Era)

• Assist in building a searchable database of racial violence using archival data
• The database will be used to create a geographic mapping of racial violence incidents

• Support the extraction of data from historical archives
• Organize information into a structured database
• Assist with creating geographic visualizations of violence patterns
• GIS training will be provided

• Conduct a comprehensive literature review on public perceptions of protest imagery
• Examine how individuals assess the credibility and authenticity of protest-related images
• Analyze existing research on people’s ability to distinguish AI-generated images from authentic photographs
• Apply these insights specifically to imagery associated with ICE protests

• Support systematic review of academic literature on protest perceptions and AI-generated imagery recognition
• Synthesize findings
• Help identify gaps in current research
