Graduate school does not always happen immediately after earning a bachelor’s degree.
For many students, it happens while they are already building careers, supporting families and managing responsibilities outside the classroom.
That reality is built into the structure of Cal Poly Pomona’s Online Master of Science in Dietetics.
The program is 100% online and asynchronous
CPP’s Online Master of Science in Dietetics consists of 30 semester units delivered entirely online and asynchronously. That means the program does not require students to attend regularly scheduled live classes at a particular time.
Students can complete the program in one year full-time or extend their studies across two years for additional flexibility.
What does that flexibility look like for an actual student?
For Angela J., a clinical nutrition professional in the program, flexibility was an important part of her decision to attend CPP.She describes choosing the Online MS in Dietetics because of the support and flexibility that allow her to balance work, family, and study.
Her graduate education also connects directly to what she wants to accomplish professionally. She is preparing to grow in clinical nutrition, become a registered dietitian, and eventually open a private practice.
That makes her experience a useful example of what flexibility can mean in practice.
It is not simply about taking classes online.
It is about creating room for graduate education alongside a career and a life already in progress.
Choose the pace that works for you
CPP gives students two general completion options: finish the 30-unit program in one year as a full-time student or complete it over two years. For a working professional considering graduate school, that flexibility provides another question worth asking:
Rather than “Can I stop everything else to earn a master’s degree?”, perhaps the better question is “How can graduate school fit into what I am already building?”
