The Department of Urban and Regional Planning within the College of Environmental Design formally invites nominees and nominators to apply for the 2027 Dale Prize. This year’s topic, chosen by undergraduate planning students, is entitled “Planning for the Future Urban System with High-Speed Rail (HSR).” We seek scholars and practitioners who have worked on HSR planning processes and implementation in the U.S. and/or globally. We encourage applicants whose HSR-related research and practice have focused on the future impacts of HSR on regions, cities, and communities from an urban planning perspective. We are drawn to applicants with prior experience working with local, state, and federal government agencies to coordinate HSR projects and broadly investigate their future impacts on cities and communities.

If awarded the Dale Prize, you will receive a stipend and a plaque and have a two-full day campus visit on March 1st -2nd, 2027, to meet planning students and faculty, visit classes, and participate in a colloquium panel with a moderator to discuss your planning research and work.
