Freshmen Parent and Family Program

Program Dates and Description

Parents and family members play an important role in student success at Cal Poly Pomona. The Parent/Family/Guest Orientation is an optional one-day program that provides the necessary tools and information needed to support student success. This program is separate from the student program and is designed specifically for parents and family members.

You can view the dates for Freshmen Orientation programs here. The Freshmen Parent, Family, and Guest program takes place on the first day of the student's program. There are no sessions/tours/meals on the second day.

What Will I Do?

At the Parent/Family Program you will receive presentations/workshops about:

  • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Information
  • Police and Campus Safety
  • Financial Aid and Cashiering Services
  • Keeping your Student On Track to Graduate
  • Current Parent and Administrator Panel
  • Student Panel
  • Meeting with your student's Academic College (Freshmen Only)
  • Optional Housing and Campus Tour

What Will I Receive?

  • Campus Tour
  • Parent Resource Guide
  • Morning refreshments and lunch
  • Visit to the Campus Bookstore


Summer 2019 cost for parents, family, and guests will be $50. Cost is per person above the age of 12 and you must register in advance. Each student can invite up to two guests. Cost includes meals and materials. 


Freshmen Parents, Family, and Guests will attend Day One of the Freshmen Orientation program.

Los padres y miembros de la familia juegan un papel importante en el éxito del estudiante en Cal Poly Pomona. La orientación para Padres/Familia/Invitados es un programa opcional de un día que ofrece las herramientas e información necesaria para apoyar el éxito del estudiante. Este programa es diferente al programa para estudiantes y está diseñado específicamente para los padres y miembros de familia. Invitamos a los padres y miembros de familia.
