THIS BULLETIN IS POSTED TO ADVISE YOU OF AN INCIDENT THAT CONCERNS THE SAFETY OF THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY.

On Friday, September 23, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a male student exited his car in Parking Lot B when two males approached him, one exhibiting a knife. After taking his wallet, keys, and cell phone, the suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and immediately drove off campus and away from the area. Although this appears to be an isolated incident, we strongly encourage increased vigilance and proactive safety measures.

DESCRIPTION:
Suspect 1:  Male, White, 45 – 50 years old, 5’10”, average build, wearing a grey shirt, black shorts, shoes, and baseball cap.
Suspect 2:  Male, Hispanic, approximately 35 years old, 5’10”, average build, wearing a dark blue hoodie, and dark colored pants.

SAFETY TIPS: Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Park in well-lit areas whenever possible. Avoid walking alone late at night.  If you see suspicious activity or a situation where you or another person may be in danger, contact law enforcement immediately by dialing 911 or (909) 869-3070 (if using a cell phone on campus) to reach a UPD Dispatcher 24/7.  Campus Code Blue emergency poles/phones are located throughout the campus and parking lots and may also be used to contact UPD.  You may also request safety escorts at any time, day or night, by calling (909) 869-3070.

SUPPORTIVE SERVICES:  We are here to assist and support you. Victims of crime are strongly encouraged to report the incident to UPD, who will provide information on rights, options and supportive services. Students are also strongly encouraged to seek support from Cal Poly Pomona’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS is a confidential resource) or from the Care Center.
