Computer Science Supplementary Authorization (CSSA)

The Computer Science Department and CEMaST are offering FREE tuition for multiple and single subject teachers to obtain their supplementary authorizations in computer science.  Both programs will be available for K-12 teachers.

Program #1: Introductory Supplementary Authorization in Computer Science  
Introductory Supplementary Authorizations may be added to a Single Subject or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and authorizes the holder to teach the supplementary subject matter content typically included in curriculum guidelines and textbooks for study in grades 9 and below. The list of courses include:
  • Visual Programming for Teachers (3 units)
  • Impacts of Computing (2 units)
  • Advanced Programming for Teachers (3 units)
  • Computer Systems (2 units)
Program #2: Specific Supplementary Authorization in Computer Science  

Specific Supplementary Authorizations may be added to a Single Subject Teaching Credential and authorizes the holder to teach the specific subject in grades preschool through 12th, and classes organized primarily for adults. The list of courses include:

  • Computer Programming for Teachers (3 units)
  • Computer Systems and Networks (3 units)
  • Data Structures for Teachers (2 units)
  • Software Engineering for Teachers (2 units)
