The Department opens a position in International Relations and Comparative Politics

In Fall 2019, a faculty search committee are seeking applicants for a tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor to begin during the 2020-2021 academic year. 

Assistant Professor in Political Science - IR and/or Comparative Politics

The Political Science Department in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for appointment beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year. Candidates specializing in international relations and/or comparative politics are especially encouraged to apply.

The faculty member will be part of a small, collegial Political Science Department which grants a B.A. degree, and which also has a Master’s in Public Administration. The faculty member will primarily teach courses in international relations and/or comparative politics. A faculty member specializing in international relations will be expected to teach courses such as International Law, International Political Economy, and US Foreign Policy. A faculty member specializing in comparative politics will be expected to teach courses in a regional specialization other than Latin America. The ability to teach undergraduate research methods, whether qualitative and/or quantitative, will also be expected. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the university. Applicants whose work demonstrates a commitment to inclusive excellence and diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply. Cal Poly Pomona is a Hispanic-serving institution and the faculty member will be an advisor to many under-represented minorities and first-generation college students.

Research interests related to social or racial justice, gender inequities, and/or inequality would be a plus. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the ability to mentor and advise under-served populations including, but not limited to, African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students.
