STIs are common and can be prevented. If you are sexually active, getting tested for STIs is one of the most important things you can do to protect you and your future partner(s) health.
Even if you always practice safer sex, sexually active people should get tested every 3-6 months. If you had unprotected sex, it’s highly recommended that you get tested soon after.
Remember: lots of people don’t have any symptoms, but can still pass STIs to someone. So getting tested regularly and always using condoms is your best bet to avoiding STIs – even if you feel totally fine or have tested negative before.

Student Health Services offers free STI testing for all Cal Poly Pomona students. Make an appointment with one of our clinicians for STI screening or testing by calling 909-869-4000. Making an appointment through MyHealthPortal is not acceptable for STI testing.
Make sure you have an open and honest conversation about your sexual history and STI testing with your doctor and ask whether you should be tested for STIs. Don’t be embarrassed: they’re not here to judge you.
