Interview with Erinn Dockins

Erinn Dockins Alumni Spotlight

February 2021

I’m Erinn Dockins and I graduated from the TOM/EBZ department in 2019. I was the OMS President in 2018-2019 and participated in many other TOM activities during my time at Cal Poly. Because I graduated in 2019, my career path is just beginning! The path so far includes working at the University Police Department for four years during college and interning at Amway in 2018. I started Northrop Grumman in Fall 2019 and that’s where my path leads so far. Down the road, I would like to get involved in Program Management.

I currently work at Northrop Grumman as a Program Cost, Schedule Control Analyst, or Material Cost Analyst for short! This position is umbrellaed under Business Management, but I get to work with several other entities (Program Management, Global Supply Chain, Engineers, Contracts etc.) to ensure the program is running smoothly from a cost/schedule perspective. Throughout the month, I am assisting the project management team translate the technical aspects into a business perspective. My position runs on a monthly rhythm so my responsibilities change throughout the month. The first week I am analyzing reports to see how last month’s cost/schedule played out to what we originally planned. The 2nd week I am helping my team predict what changes need to be made for the following months based on the current state of information. The 3rd/4th we are implementing these changes into our program as well as understanding our supplier’s budget/schedule to ensure it aligns with what we are planning.
