The Poly Post is the student newspaper at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona). When classes are in session, it publishes every Tuesday throughout the school year. It is overseen by the Department of Communication, which sets policies for the Poly Post and other campus communications media.

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

The Public Relations Student Society of America (www.prssa.org) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. Founded in 1968 by its parent organization, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Cal Poly Pomona Chapter comprises some of the top students in the Cal Poly Communications Department. With a focus on professional development, the organization strives to obtain internships, network, and further their understanding of the public relations field. The chapter maintains a regular blog called “What’s the Point?” where their latest news and information can be found (http://calpolypomonaprssa.wordpress.com/). Society of Professional Journalists

Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ)

The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry through the daily work of its nearly 10,000 members; works to inspire and educate current and future journalists through professional development; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press through its advocacy efforts. The Cal Poly Pomona Chapter offers an outlet for students interested in journalism and/or First Amendment issues. The chapter is active in organizing social events and events aimed at networking and professional development. Recent events include an A.P. Style workshop and a field trip to the L.A. Times newsroom. The student-led club provides students with a forum for making connections in the industry, learning about internship opportunities, developing professional expertise, and cultivating leadership skills.

Lambda Pi Eta Logo

Lambda Pi Eta

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), Lambda Pi Eta has active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. LPH represents what Aristotle described in The Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.

Kellogg Honors College Logo

Kellogg Honors College

The Kellogg Honors College is a community of motivated high achieving students at Cal Poly Pomona. The honors college promotes academic excellence and intellectual exploration through honors courses, civic engagement and special events. Students can join the honors college as incoming freshmen, current first-year freshmen finishing one year at CPP, and incoming transfers.
