On Tuesday, May 31, the Chinese Student Association (CSA) won the Best New Student Organization award presented by the Office of Student Life and Cultural Centers, out of 11 new student club nominees. The Chinese Student Association's main purpose is to promote Chinese culture and language here at Cal Poly Pomona. The club has grown to over 30 active members, with 11 officers on its e-board. The club supported Chinese culture through a variety of events during the 2015-16 academic year. In Fall, for example, CSA volunteered at Tsi Lai Temple, located in Hacienda Heights. On various occasions CSA brought a taste of Chinese culture to campus through traditional Chinese food. During Lunar New Years, for example, CSA gave out free Chinese food and gifts at University Park during U-hour to share the holiday traditions with the CPP Faculty and students. According to the President, Lawrence Lai, CSA is already preparing for doing something big in the new academic year.
