Tutoring Course Provides Students Experience, Employment

Students tutoring

Kristy Hodson/September 2013. The EFL department is pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for students to gain professional experience and immediate employment as writing tutors at Cal Poly Pomona. Because of the recent changes to the composition program, the EFL department is training students with the skills necessary to be successful tutors both at CPP and beyond. Students who enroll in ENG 209: Practicum in Tutoring English will be eligible to take part in this exciting opportunity.

Following the “Learn-by-Doing” model, the new hybrid class introduces students to tutoring theory and pedagogy, and provides hands-on training for both face-to-face and online tutoring. Those who successfully complete the course will be recommended for a very flexible, work-from-home, set-your-own-hours summer online tutoring job offered through the EFL department.

If you have questions about the opportunity or would like to learn more about the course, please contact Kristy Hodson by phone at (909) 869-3835 or by e-mail at khodson@cpp.edu.
