About Us
Who are we?
The DHC@CPP began in the Fall of 2024 with the support of the Provost’s Award for Emerging Technology and one central goal: to champion the digital humanities work faculty and students are producing here at Cal Poly Pomona and help guide humanities.
But we also create unique programming:
- platforming student and faculty development in DH
- hosting experts and pedagogical events
- showcasing student-produced content
The DHC@CPP aims to enable productive collaboration between faculty and students engaged in Digital Humanities-based research, scholarship, and pedagogy.
What is Digital Humanities?
Digital Humanities is an interdisciplinary field that treats technology as simultaneously a tool for and subject of humanistic inquiry. DH practices range from GIS to digitization; computational methodologies; and studying the impact of technology on humanity, from artificial intelligence, algorithmic biases, media analysis, to (mis)information. DH prioritizes public engagement and employs novel avenues for communicating scholarship, including websites, podcasts, social networks, and video-sharing.
