Tutoring Attendance Policy

Students are expected to arrive on time for all scheduled tutoring sessions. If for any reason you are not able to meet with your tutor for a session, you must notify ARCHES (a minimum of 1 hour) prior to your scheduled session. Student may submit an attendance notification form to notify ARCHES of any impromptu attendance updates.

If a student knows in advance they cannot attend a session, they are encouraged to reschedule that session with their tutor. ARCHES reserves the right to alter or remove tutoring service based on attendance.

Attendance Terms

  • A student is tardy if they arrive 10 minutes after the hour.
  • 2 Tardies equals 1 No Show

  • A cancellation is when a student cancels an appointment with a minimum of 1 hours notice prior to the scheduled session.
  • To cancel a session, a student must contact the ARCHES office via phone: 909-869-2386 or email: arches@cpp.edu and copy their tutor's CPP email address to the email. 

  • A no-show is when a student does not show to a session and does not contact the office – OR – when a student cancels an appointment without giving a minimum of 1 hours notice – OR – when a student shows up to a session 20 minutes after the hour.
  • Tutors may leave after waiting for 20 minutes for their student to arrive.

Attendance Violation Policy


  • First Violation: Student will receive an e-mail notification.
  • Second Violation: Student will receive a warning e-mail notification.
  • Third Violation: Student will receive a warning e-mail notification asking for justification of the violations.
  • Fourth Violation: Student is required to meet with the Learning Specialist or Project Director. Strategies to improve attendance will be identified and the student will be required to sign an attendance contract.
  • Fifth Violation: Tutoring will be cancelled for the term (for that course).

Special Tutoring Requests

  • If a student is unable to attend a tutoring appointment at their scheduled time, they have the option of rescheduling this appointment to a different date and time. 

    • Students may request to reschedule their tutoring appointment to the week before or week after the date of their original tutoring appointment. 

  • Reschedules will only be allowed for holidays, office closures (e.g. ARCHES Graduation Celebration, ARCHES Potlucks, etc.), and tutor’s attendance (e.g. tutors cancellations or absences). All other reasons must be discussed and approved by the Resource Coordinator.

  • Students must have a good tutoring attendance record to reschedule tutoring sessions. ARCHES will not approve a rescheduling request from students who "No Showed" to their appointment.

  • Students must turn in a Tutor Rescheduling Form to ARCHES.

    • It is the student’s and tutor’s responsibility to coordinate their schedules before submitting a rescheduling form.  

    • Requests must be received 24 buisness hours in advance, and student and tutor will be notified with the decision within 24 buisness hours.

  • Students may request an additional hour of tutoring for each course they are recieving tutoring in for the term. 

  • Students need to provide justification of the request, which can include additional test preparation, assistance with class projects, or if supplementary time is needed to due to a cognitive or physical challenge.

  • Student who recieve 1 hour of tutoring per week may request an additional hour of tutoring as needed through out the term or make a permenent request to increase their total tutoring hours per course. Students may only meet for a maximum of two hours per week per course. 

  • Students who recieve 2 hours of tutoring per week may request an additional hour of tutoring three times per term.

    • If students need to request additional tutoring sessions, please consult with the Learning Specialist and or Project Director.

  • Students requesting an additional hour must have a good tutoring attendance record. ARCHES will not approve an additional request from students who "No Showed" to their appointment.

  • Students must turn in a Request for an Additional Hour Form to ARCHES.

    • It is the student’s and tutor’s responsibility to coordinate their schedules before submitting a Request for an Additional Hour form.  

    • Requests must be received 24 buisness hours in advance, and student and tutor will be notified with the decision within 24 buisness hours.

  • There is no regularly scheduled tutoring during finals week. However, Peer Tutors have the option of providing tutoring services to their students. 

  • If a student is interested in receiving tutoring during finals, they must:

    1. Ask their tutor if they plan to provide tutoring during finals week.

    2. Coordinate with their tutor and confirm their tutoring appointment day and time. Students can request a maximum of two hours of tutoring per course.

    3. Submit a Finals Request Form by 3pm on the last day of instruction.

  • Student and tutor will be notified with the decision within 24 buisness hours.

  • Students requesting finals week tutoring must have a good tutoring attendance record.
