About the Program

Help young learners build foundational skills in problem solving, relationships, and inquiry. The Pre-K to Grade 3 option equips ADT transfer students with the preparation needed to become TK teachers through coursework in teacher prep and child development.

Preschool Teacher

Care for and educate young children and promote their social, emotional and cognitive development. Plan activities and lessons to encourage their exploration, creativity and growth as they prepare for kindergarten.

Kindergarten Teacher

Introduce five- to six-year-old children to the basics of education, and promote their academic, social and emotional development. Teach foundational skills, track students’ growth and help children adjust to a school setting.

Elementary School Teacher

Teach children in grades K-3 and provide foundational education in subjects like reading, math, social studies and science. Plan and deliver lessons, assess students’ progress, communicate with parents and prepare students for middle school and future learning.

Courses

Cal Poly Pomona's Pre-K to Grade 3 option in the Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies prepares students to teach transitional kindergarten and early primary grades.
