Veterans Resource Center’s Fall Welcome

September 8, 2020

The Veterans Resource Center kicked off the fall semester by hosting a virtual Fall Welcome on September 8, 2020.  Jamie Orozco Campos, Lead Veteran Resource Advisor, and Elizabeth Wilson, Veteran Ambassador, hosted the event. Students had an opportunity to connect with fellow military affiliated students, staff, faculty, along with VRC liaisons.  CPP President Dr. Soraya Coley gave opening remarks.  She encouraged military affiliated students to rely on the tenacity and perseverance that they gained from military service during these unprecedented times. President Coley also reaffirmed that Cal Poly Pomona is committed to the One Team, One Goal, Student Success mission and will continue to provide resources to support student success.

Following President Coley’s remarks, Vice President of Student Affairs, Christina Gonzales spoke of being the daughter of a World War II Veteran and how she plans to support the success of CPP’s military affiliated students. VRC liaisons then had a chance to introduce themselves and remind students about the campus resources that are available to them. Toward the end of the event, students, faculty, and staff participated in a human bingo activity in which they were able to learn more about each other.
