VRC Offers Scholarships

Each year during CPP Scholarship Fest, the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) offers CPP’s military-affiliated students the opportunity to apply for multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500.

How to Get a Job: Future Forward Connects Student Veterans with Employers

Minsoo Choi was only one of many success stories coming out of last fall’s Future Forward event, which the VRC hosts annually to help military-affiliated students get a jump start on their career and post-college goals.

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda hosted a special screening of an original play “Here and There: How to be Here, When There is Never Far Away” on Nov. 17, 2022, sponsored by Cal Poly Pomona’s Veterans Resource Center and Department of Theatre and New Dance.

VA Office Hours

  • Counseling Services
  • Linkage and referrals to VA healthcare and services.

Over the summer session, students may contact the VA Vet Center of San Bernardino at 909-801-5762 and ask to speak with a counselor or schedule an appointment with a VA Readjustment Counselor that is available. 

Research Assistance Hour

  • Get help with your research.

Paul Hottinger, Librarian, hosts Research Assistance Hour every Tuesdays, 11a.m.-12 p.m.  All CPP majors are welcome to connect with Paul for research help.  Sessions are available in person or via Zoom.

VRC Tutoring

  • Get help with basic math, engineering and physics.

Dr. Phyllis Nelson, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, offers online tutoring sessions during the regular academic year. To schedule a tutoring session email Dr. Nelson at prnelson@cpp.edu.

Counseling and Psychological Services Drop-In Hour

  • Confidential and tailored to suit the needs of the student.
  • Example of session topics include: Learning healthy coping strategies, adapting to change, and managing stress.

Dr. Lideth Ortega-Villalobos hosts online counseling Drop-In Hours every Monday, 1-3 p.m. for the summer session.  If this scheduled time is not workable for you, please email Dr. Ortega-Villalobos at lidetho@cpp.edu to schedule an appointment. Drop-ins can be 20 or 25 minutes long and will be reserved in the order they are requested.
