HRS Department Positions

HRS has multiple disciplines within the department, several of which have internship opportunities. The areas with internship opportunities include: HRS Customer Service Center (CSC), Payroll and Benefit Services, Employment, Compensation and Classification, and Employee/Labor Relations. Examples of assignments may include duties such as: assist in data entry and excel spreadsheets, assist in research on various HR subjects, assist in opening and closing recruitments and new hire orientation, assist with answering general employment inquiries, assist with providing clerical support and customer service from simple to complex HR-related tasks, etc.

Project Overview

The intern will also complete a required project within the position they are assigned. The project will benefit the HRS department above and beyond the interns’ normal duties at the internship (e.g., procedural manual, training proposal, develop tutorial, survey, compliance report, etc.). In addition, the project will result in the intern learning something new from his/her internship assignment, which will provide meaningful and beneficial knowledge towards future career aspirations. The intern will work closely with his/her internship Lead in determining scope of the project, scheduling meetings, and creating goals and deadlines to ensure project status is on track and properly completed.  At the end of the internship, the student will have the internship Lead and Professor assess the project.

Performance Expectations

The selected intern will be expected to act and dress professionally at all times; exhibit respect and courtesy during interactions with all members of the CPP campus community; maintain confidential information with the greatest sensitivity; demonstrate effective communication and research skills; participate in meetings; establish meetings with internship Lead on project status and demonstrate a strong work ethic.

The intern will meet regularly for progress reviews and status updates to ensure the project remains on track with established deadlines.
