Apparel Merchandising and Management

Program Accreditation and/or Recognitions

  • As part of accreditation activity by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Apparel Merchandising and Management program engages in a variety of assessment activities.  These activities assist the program in determining student learning outcomes and measuring student performance against these outcomes.
  • In 1997, Apparel Production Option received the professional endorsement (accreditation) from the American Apparel & Footwear Association-AAFA and became one of the 13 programs in the US. The outcomes are developed based on the competencies identified by the American Apparel and Footwear Association’s (AAFA) Human Resource Leadership Council competency criteria for program endorsement.  They are also cognizant of the International Textile and Apparel Association’s (ITAA) Four-Year Baccalaureate Program Meta-Goals.
  • The department has started working on obtaining the Textile and Apparel Programs Accreditation Commission (TAPAC) of International Textile and Apparel Association and expect to complete the process in 2022.
