Scott Little Faculty Spotlight

September 2021

Hello, I am Scott Little Ph.D. I am an Adjunct Professor in the Technology & Operations Management Department. I am also a Senior Subject Expert Analytics at Southern California Edison, and University of California, Riverside Extension Transformative Leadership Advisory Board Member.

Additional experience includes Stanford Affiliate, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Planetary Society, Academy of Poets, USAFAux search & rescue, security, probation agent, fire inspector, historical society board, Native American community, martial artist, drummer, prospector.

I am a Published Author with books listed on Amazon. My genres are Sci-Fi-Fantasy, Horror, Folklore-Myth, Children's, History, Poetry, Art.

Currently I am teaching TOM 3020 Business Statistics and Analytics with an introduction to Machine Learning. This course includes an Excel computer lab component, R and Python coding tutorials, and a class project for the students to develop a potential real-world application and practice data storytelling. I have also served as a judge and moderator for student research conferences, and as a case writer for a student analytics competition. These are shown below under publications.

At Southern California Edison I am a Senior Subject Expert, Mentor and Teacher in Analytics and Machine Learning AI. I work with Descriptive Inferential Statistics, forecasting models, neural networks, random forest, factor analysis, Holt-Winters ARIMA, Natural Language Processing, Design Thinking, Lean Six Sigma, Topological data, and Unobserved Component-Kalman Filter. I am on the Edison International Political Action Committee, and Edison Native American Alliance.

I have recently joined the University of California, Riverside Extension Transformative Leadership Advisory Board. I completed a course in Leadership for Disruptive Innovation and will be working with them to implement a course in Design Thinking Leadership. This is a good opportunity to practice and further develop my skills in empathy, socialization, and diversity for new technologies. It is also a good opportunity to network and collaborate with other technology leaders.

In addition, I conduct independent and tangential research in Complex Systems and Chaos Theory, Machine Learning and AI, Partial Differential Equations, String Theory AdS/CFT, Cloaking Metamaterials, and Cryptography.
