The College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE) proudly celebrates Shelly Yu-Tze Wang, Associate Director of Workforce Innovation & Career Engagement (WICE), on successfully defending her doctoral dissertation on April 24, 2026.
Shelly’s research explored the integration of learning and career lattice, a future-focused framework that reimagines career growth beyond the traditional career ladder model. Her work examines how organizations can create more flexible and dynamic pathways for professional development through vertical, horizontal, and cross-functional career mobility.
The research reflects the realities of today’s evolving workforce, where continuous learning, adaptability, and skill reinvention are increasingly essential for both employees and organizations. Her study focused on identifying organizational structures and strategies that support professional development within modern workforce ecosystems.
“Shelly’s achievement reflects the type of innovative and forward-thinking leadership that continues to strengthen CPGE’s impact across workforce development and community engagement,” said Larisa Preiser-Houy, Ph.D., Interim Dean of CPGE. “Her work contributes meaningful insight into how organizations can better support lifelong learning and career mobility in a rapidly changing world.”
Shelly brings more than 20 years of experience across higher education, workforce development, and corporate partnership leadership. Her career includes leadership roles at TikTok, InStride, California State University Fullerton, and University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she has led initiatives focused on workforce pathways, organizational learning, and strategic partnerships.
Most recently, Shelly served as a Learning & Development Business Partner at TikTok, where she helped develop global workforce learning pathways in areas including GenAI, product management, and data science for teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Her dissertation research closely aligns with WICE’s mission to strengthen workforce innovation, industry collaboration, and future-ready learning opportunities for organizations and communities throughout the region.
At CPGE, Shelly leads initiatives focused on workforce engagement ecosystems, strategic partnerships, and customized learning solutions designed to support evolving industry needs and career advancement opportunities.
