Dean's Student Advisory Board (SAB)

About the SAB

The SAB provides direct feedback to the dean of the College of Engineering, and represents the college in its premier events and tours.

SABs represent the interest and needs of engineering student body, and has the opportunity to develop significant relationships with industry leads. Further, they represent the college with pride by leading tours and assisting with the college's premier events.

Applications periodically open in the spring and fall semester by the virtue of board members graduating. Call for applications will be sent to all engineering students via email.

Co-Chairs

Mechanical Engineering – Junior

Lauren Mao

Lauren is a member of both the Rose Float team and the Rocket Powered Lander Project. She joined the SAB to strengthen her public-speaking skills and to share student concerns directly with the dean. Lauren hopes to work in the field of robotics and automation after graduation.

Mechanical Engineering – Senior

Nick Monaghan

Nick was previously president of the Engineering Student Council. Now as a SAB member, he hopes to contribute to the betterment of the college while taking part in opportunities for personal development. Nick is open working in any engineering field as long as his work helps people.

Aerospace Engineering – Junior

Stephanie Arenas

Stephanie is involved in the hydraulics section of Rose Flot and is an associate project manager of the Rocket Powered Lander project. She joined the SAB because she is passionate about helping students in the same way her peers have supported to her throughout her academic career. She hopes to eventually work in both civilian and military engineering applications.

Engineering Management – Graduate Student

Sibin John Babu

Sibin is an engineering management graduate student dedicated to advancing efficient engineering systems and strengthening the student experience at CPP. Actively involved in industrial and manufacturing engineering initiatives and campus clubs, he brings a practical, systems-focused approach to every project. He joined the SAB to advocate for students, improve communication, and turn feedback into real improvements. His long-term goals include contributing to large-scale operations, process optimization, and advanced technical applications.

Computer Engineering – Freshman

David Boyadjian

David is a member of the Engineers Without Borders club. He joined the SAB to be a part of like-minded peers, and be part of a team to better the college and himself. His ultimate goal is to be involved in AI and hopes to represent his home country, Armenia.

Aerospace Engineering – Junior

Jimmy Chen

Jimmy is the program manager of the Rocket Powered Lander club. He joined the SAB to ensure student voices are represented and to work on improving the engineering student experience. His goal is to join the aerospace industry and contribute to flight-related technologies.

Electrical Engineering – Senior

Christopher Co Jr.

Christopher is a part of the MEP program as a mentor for first-year students and is part of the IEEE CPP chapter. He joined the SAB to have a more active voice in the college and improve the college experience for his peers. After graduation, he hopes to transition from an intern to a full-time engineer at JPL to continue working in the communications field and space-related applications.

Chemical Engineering – Junior

Maya Elsamad

Maya joined the SAB in 2024 to advocate for better access to academic resources and to help enhance the engineering learning environment. Her goal is to continue learning as much as possible about chemical engineering so she can contribute meaningfully to industry.

Chemical Engineering – Senior

Ashley Garcia

Ashley is a transfer student and is passionate about supporting transfer students and strengthening community within the College of Engineering. She joined the SAB to advocate for student success and help ensure better support systems for new transfers, and women in engineering. After graduation, she hopes to work in industry before earning an MBA and pursuing roles in engineering planning and administration.

Mechanical Engineering – Senior

Justin Gov

Justin is currently part of the Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project and is part of AKPSI, a business fraternity. He joined the SAB to help younger generations of engineers by helping developing their communication and presentation skills. His goal is to build a career in the manufacturing industry.

Civil Engineering – Junior

Eleen Gregoryona

Eleen is a part of the ASCE CPP chapter as a Membership Chair and the Steel Bridge team as a Junior Design Captain. She joined the SAB to introduce her perspective as a student involved in academics, research, and past internships. She plans to delve deeper into a career of designing ergonomic cities with sustainable infrastructure and inclusive communities that promote connection.

Computer Engineering – Senior

Heba Hafez

Heba is an active member of the Solar Boat Team and Alpha Xi Delta, where she also serves as the Greek Council’s Vice President of Internal Relations. As a member of SAB, she is committed to strengthening the connection between academic curriculum and campus engagement. She aims to help students navigate their academic pathways with greater clarity by improving access to information about degree requirements and procedures. Heba plans to build a strong foundation of industry experience before transitioning into leadership and management roles in the future.

Electrical Engineering – Senior

Jesse Hofer

Jesse is an electrical engineering student who serves as vice president of IEEE PES and as an MEP peer mentor. He joined the SAB to help drive meaningful, student-centered improvements in the College of Engineering for both current and future Broncos. His long-term goal is to build an industry career focused on power systems, ultimately leading to his own engineering consultancy where he can tackle complex, real-world challenges with practical and innovative solutions.

Mechanical Engineering – Junior

Joselen Juarez

Joselen is active in several campus communities and enjoys building connections across student groups. She joined the SAB to get more involved at CPP and to help bridge communications between students and the college. After graduation, she hopes to design outdoor equipment for hiking and rock climbing.

Computer Engineering – Sophmore

Sean Kennedy

Sean is an active member in IEEE and a prospective member of Formula SAE. As a SAB member, he aims to inform and inspire new students to the college and improve the college by collecting and providing feedback for the dean. His long-term goal is to work in advanced computing and machine learning.

Mechanical Engineering – Senior

Geline Manuel

Geline is president of the Resident Student Association, and part of the Kellogg Honors College and PolyTransfer programs. She joined the SAB to ensure every student feels empowered to succeed and to foster community and diversity in the engineering community. She aims to continue working in renewable-energy fields after graduation.

Industrial Engineering – Sophomore

Krishna Manoj

Krishna is part of two student clubs, the CPP chapters of IISE and AMS. As a SAB member, she is dedicated to speaking up for students and doing her best to resolve their issues and complaints. As a woman in engineering, she aims to support and uplift other women in the field. After graduation, she hopes to explore careers in research, manufacturing and eventually, working on all manner of spacecrafts.

Civil Engineering – Senior

Joel Mwathi

Joel is active in the National Society of Black Engineers as a fundraising chair. He joined the SAB to create a more inclusive and collaborative environment in the college and is passionate about sharing his and his peer’s perspectives with the dean to better the college experience. His career goal is to specialize in sustainable infrastructure and environmental engineering solutions.

Electrical Engineering – Senior

Cole Noelte

Cole joined the SAB because he enjoys meeting new people and wants to contribute to a more connected student community. Currently in an internship at Southern California Edison, he aspires to work full-time at the company after graduation.

Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology – Senior

Johnny Qiu

Johnny serves as the mechanical design lead and scheduler for the Autonomous Vehicle Lab, trains with the Bronco Running Club and is also part of the Vietnamese Student Association and Nikkei Student Union. He joined the SAB to foster a stronger sense of community within the college by leveraging his diverse student experiences. After graduation, Johnny plans to work in the space industry by developing autonomous vehicles and designing systems capable of advancing the frontiers of space exploration.

Electrical Engineering – Senior

David Schneider

David thrives on self-directed technical projects and enjoys building things outside formal groups. He joined the SAB to grow as a leader and work with peers who share his drive for engineering. He aims to begin his career in fast-paced industry roles and later channel that experience into independent engineering ventures.
