Veterans Resource Center moves to new Student Services Building

The new facilities include an expanded collaboration area, individual computer workstations, a kitchenette to enjoy coffee and snacks, and a lounge area for students to relax and socialize in between classes. The VRC has a larger capacity to offer services military-affiliated students have become accustomed to, such as computer access and free printing.

Cal Poly Pomona Celebrates U.S. Marine Corps 243rd Birthday

CPP's VRC and Veterans Club celebrated the United States Marine Corps (USMC) 243rd birthday on Nov. 6, 2018. Traditions included a cake-cutting ceremony, in which the oldest Marine gives the youngest Marine a piece of cake, representing the transfer of experience and knowledge.

Veterans Resource Center partners with Raytheon for a Faciltiy Tour and Networking Opportunity

U.S. Defense contractor Raytheon hosted a facility tour and networking opportunity for CPP student veterans at the Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems Facility in El Segundo, CA on Dec. 14, 2018. Close to 30 students met with hiring managers, and nearly half were offered an employment or internship position.

U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Campaign

The VRC collaborated with Golf Company 2nd Battalion 23rd Marine Regiment, U.S. Marine Reserve Unit to collect toy donations for the annual U.S. Marine Corp Reserves Toys for Tots Campaign. Colleges and departments across CPP collected 430 toy items, which were gifted to underprivileged children in the Pomona area.

The VRC hosted a workshop on Feb. 1 to assist students in searching and applying for government positions. Students learned the differences between private sector and federal government resumes, asked questions specific to their career goals, and received advice on what employees look for.

Nearly 200 guests listened to guest speakers and honored veterans from multiple armed services during CPP's annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Nov. 8, 2018.
