Program Learning Outcomes (PLO)

  1. The program will endeavor to provide the students with the scientific knowledge and training that would allow them to enter graduate school or scientific careers in the animal sciences.
  2. The program will endeavor to provide our students with the critical thinking skills necessary to solve complex, interdisciplinary problems that impact animals, people, and their environment.
  3. The program will promote professionalism and leadership skills that prepare our graduates for professional school, graduate school, and scientific careers.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)

  1. Students will apply conceptual and technical knowledge, e.g., animal health, animal physiology, animal nutrition, genetics of domestic animals, and use of biotechnology to solve animal science problems (PLO1).
  2. Students will communicate effectively in interpersonal and professional settings (PLO1,3).
  3. Students will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to solve complex, interdisciplinary problems that impact animals, people, and their environments (PLO1,2,3).
  4. Students will evaluate the ethical responsibilities of professionals in animal science industries (PLO1,2).
  5. Students will collaborate in teams to develop leadership and team-building skills (PLO1,3).
