Community Impact Grant

The Impact Grant is designed to assist faculty with integrating curricular engaged learning (service-learning and community-engaged learning) into their S/CEL courses. Projects must be curricular, related to course academic learning objectives, reflective of CPP's university values, and address a community-identified need. Tenured, tenure-track faculty, and lecturers are eligible to apply. Applications are usually due in the middle of the fall semester for projects to be completed in the following spring semester.

Service-Learning/Community-Engaged Learning Faculty Fellows

The Faculty Fellows Program is designed to assist faculty with integrating service-learning into a new course. The program will include 3-5 faculty members from across the campus. Tenured, tenure-track and lecturers are eligible to apply. Deadline is usually in early September for the following spring semester.

Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) Mini-Grant

The Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) Awards are internal funding opportunities offered to support faculty engagement in research, scholarship, and creative work. These awards provide competitive grants or assigned time that enable faculty to pursue projects that generate new knowledge, scholarly publications, artistic work, or other creative outcomes, advancing both individual disciplines and the broader mission of the university. The deadline for RSCA Awards is usually in the early spring for the next academic year.

Special Projects for Improving the Classroom Experience (SPICE)

The Special Projects for Improving the Classroom Experience (SPICE) grant is an initiative funded by the Student Success Fee. It aims to improve student learning by supporting the development and implementation of innovative teaching methods and new course experiences in both physical and virtual classrooms. The grant also provides funds for enhancing classroom and lab equipment, including software and specialized furniture. This includes creating accessible online course materials, inviting guest speakers, developing high-quality hybrid courses, and other resource provisions. The SPICE deadline is usually in the early spring for the next academic year.

The Provost’s Teacher-Scholar Program

The Provost’s Teacher-Scholar Program recognizes the breadth of faculty accomplishments beyond the classroom and provides time and resources for faculty to succeed as teacher-scholars. This initiative reinforces the inclusive polytechnic experience by integrating teaching, research, and creative activities. Information is usually provided to faculty from their respective colleges. Applications are usually due in early March for the next academic year.

Generative AI Course Integration Grant

Supported by the Kellogg Legacy Endowment, this grant program is intended to support and advance faculty work in integrating generative AI (gAI) into the curriculum through the development of new courses or the updating of existing courses. The goal is to help faculty engage in innovative curriculum design and implementation, leading to enhanced student learning and skill development in gAI. Proposals are usually due in April.

Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Grants Program (SIRG)

The Cal Poly Pomona Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Grant (SIRG) Program supports interdisciplinary research projects designed to generate pilot data, build collaborative capacity, and position teams to compete successfully for significant external funding. Proposals must involve collaboration across at least two departments and typically span multiple colleges, engaging two or more cross-disciplinary collaborators in projects aligned with Cal Poly Pomona’s Mission and Vision. Proposals are usually due in early April for Summer and the next academic year.
