Resident Check-Out Information

There are three instances where residents living with University Housing Services must vacate their room or suite space. First, during Winter Closure (at the end of Fall Semester) where residents are returning in Spring Semester. Second, during Winter Closure where residents are not returning in Spring Semester. Third, at the end of Spring semester for the Summer break.

Important Dates

  1. Academic Year Term

    Sunday, August 17, 2025, through Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:00pm.

  2. Winter Break Closure

    Sunday, December 14, 2025, through Thursday, January 15, 2026; Residents must vacate during this period, meal plans are not active.

  3. Spring-Only Term

    Friday, January 16, 2026, through Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:00pm.

Move Out Instructions

Residents moving out of University Housing Services should follow the proper check-out procedures below in order to avoid an improper check-out fee. Please note the keys that must be returned for each community type. If you have any questions, please contact housing@cpp.edu.



Key Return Process


Fill out a yellow check-out envelope located at the front desk of each building, the 74 Secoya Housing Office, or 71 Package Room. Traditional Halls: There should be 2 keys put inside the yellow check-out envelope: your building key and room key. Suites: There should be a card and key put inside yellow check-out envelope: your green resident dip card and room key. Residential Halls: There should be no Bronco ID card put inside the yellow check-out envelope, but the envelope must be completed in full.

Once appropriate keys are placed inside the yellow check-out envelope, seal the envelope closed and return the envelope to one of the following: Housing Office Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm Green Check-Out Box Monday through Sunday after 5:00pm at your building's front desk Note: Failure to properly turn in the yellow check-out envelope will result in an Improper Check-Out Fee.

All residents are responsible for arranging and completing all necessary check-out procedures, including return of key(s) and/or key card(s) through UHS-communicated methods. Proper check-out communication is sent to residents CPP email. Please refer to the 2025-2026 Student Housing License Agreement for more information.

Spring 2026 Move Out

All Residents must move out of their space by Friday, May 15, 2026 at 5:00pm. Access to all residential buildings will expire at 5:30pm. If you will be staying with us for the summer, please refer to your Cal Poly Pomona email for further instructions regarding moving from your academic year space to your summer space. Spring Stayover Request opens April 8, 2026.
