Wireless Presentation
Solstice
What is it?
The Wireless Presentation feature can be found in many of the smart classrooms and allows multiple people to connect to the rooms projector either individually or simultaneously, making collaborative environments with technology much more effective especially in Active Learning spaces that utilize the pod/cluster seating structure.
Getting Started
Setting Up the Wireless Presentation App
Select the Correct Input Source
To start using the wireless presentation feature in a classroom, make sure that you see a Solstice screen displaying on INPUT 3 or the Wireless Presentation selection from your input list across the top of a touch panel.
Connect to the Campus Wi-Fi and Download the App
The Solstice Pod allows for up to 4 students and 1 faculty to connect to a single display simultaneously. Up to 32 participants can be connected in standby when Moderation Controls are enabled.
You’ll first want to make sure your device is connected to the campus Wi-Fi network. Please visit the Eduroam Wizard Web Page for more information.
Next, download Solstice from the Mersive Download Center for your particular device.
Search for Your Classroom in the App
Once you have the app downloaded, follow the initial setup prompts and allow sharing any sharing permissions that you are asked for. The steps will vary for every device.
With everything allowed, you can now use the search bar across the top of the app to locate any room on the campus that has the Wireless Presentation feature.
The name of the device in the room can be found on the display you are currently trying to connect to. (i.e. 1-113, 15-2424, 121-1967)
Finalize the Connection
When you click on the room, the app will continue to prompt you with input fields for a four-digit code. This code can be found in the same location as the room name, except now that you are trying to connect, the code will center itself to the screen and increase in size, making it easier to locate.
After a few seconds from having entered the code on your device it will populate on the screen and you can proceed with presenting your content.
Moderation Controls
Best for Whole Class Presentations
Enabling Moderation Controls
This setting will only become available to you once you connect to a display. It is important that if you want to be the moderator of a Wireless Presentation session that you connect to the device first to prevent any mishaps.
On the left hand side locate the Moderate tab and enable the Moderate Meeting toggle found in the context menu.
Changing the Layout
With this enabled, the Moderator is allowed to manipulate the layout of the presentation from the Layout tab on the left-hand side.
In the center you will have a representation of who is being shown on the main screen, across the bottom are all of the participants who are in line to present their content.
You can drag and drop students from either of these areas in the layout menu and present up to 4 simultaneously on a single display.
