After my graduation from CPP in 2012, I found a job at UCSD in a MRI liver imaging research lab (called the Liver Imaging Group, or LIG). My interest in MRI was kindled by Dr. Mireles’ senior advanced lab, where I completed the pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance assignment. I used the interest I gained from that lab as a guide when I was applying for a job, and I fortunately found one highly relevant. At the LIG, I work as an image analyst. I get to analyze MRI images of the liver, as well as the opportunity to help write manuscripts and grant proposals, giving me direct involvement to the academic side of the lab. Working at the LIG, I have become very interested in medicine, decided I want to go to medical school. I am now taking classes I am missing to apply. I plan to keep using my physics in medicine, as a radiologist, or wherever I decide to specialize after medical school. My experience at CPP was instrumental in getting me to where I am today and I hope to visit in the future, possibly give a seminar!
