Facilities, Labs & Classrooms

Our department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for nutrition and food science programs.

The department has two dedicated kitchen labs with five stations each (cooking range, oven, dishwasher, and all utensils and balances available at each station). This lab is used for food service, food and culture, experimental food science, product development and sensory analysis courses.

In addition, we have a food chemistry and analysis lab and a food processing lab with cutting-edge equipment for food science students.

For graduate research there is a common graduate lab available for research as well as a biotech lab for tissue and microbiological studies.

Most recently, the department acquired state-of-the-art extrusion equipment to experiment with creating plant-based meat products.
