Agriculture and plant science aren’t just about traditional farming. Our minors will offer you the opportunity to explore different aspects of agriculture, build expertise in specific areas, or develop complementary skills and knowledge.

Our department has the following minors:

  • Agronomy: explore the production and management of different types of crops.
  • Horticulture: learn foundational skills in horticulture, including propagation and sustainable practices. You can also learn about arboriculture, landscaping, turf management, and irrigation.
  • Pest & Disease Management: discover how to protect crops and plants from pests and diseases and prepare to take the California pest control adviser licensing exam.
  • Soil Science: delve into the critical role that soils play in ecosystems, agriculture and environmental sustainability.
  • Urban & Community Agriculture: learn how to integrate small-scale and sustainable production methods, technology, social enterprise, and emerging business models for urban agriculture.
  • Water Resources & Irrigation Design: irrigation takes many forms. Learn the different types, how to design systems, and manage turfgrass.
