Retail Food Facilities
Environmental Health & Safety, REHS routinely inspects and permits all permanent food service facilities on Cal Poly Pomona's property to ensure they maintain and comply with the California Retail Food Code (CalCode) in preventing foodborne illness outbreaks and communicable diseases.
Retail Food Facilities are required to submit a Health Permit Application and obtain approval by Environmental Health & Safety.
H&SC § 113715. Any construction, alteration, remodeling, or operation of a food facility shall be approved by the enforcement agency and shall be in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal statutes, regulations, and ordinances, including but not limited to, fire, building, and zoning codes.
H&SC § 113719. Structural and sanitation requirements shall be based on the food service activity to be conducted, the type of food that is to be prepared or served, and the extent of food preparation that is to be conducted at the food facility.
Any case of foodborne illness, unsanitary conditions, and malpractices related to food facilities, mobile food facilities, student club events, or public events can be reported to EH&S for further investigation.
