The CPP Years of Service Recognition ceremony, traditionally held during Fall Convocation, honors and recognizes our faculty and staff for service milestones of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service to the university. The annual CPP Years of Service Recognition ceremony is part of a tradition of recognition and gratitude for our dedicated employees, whose accomplishments and outstanding work contribute to the success of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni at Cal Poly Pomona. Frequently Asked Questions
We receive multiple inquiries where employees reference their CalPERS service credit. CPP Years of Service Recognition does not account for service at other CSU’s. CPP Years of Service Recognition accounts for years of service at Cal Poly Pomona, ASI, and Foundation Enterprises.
Gold pins in the design of the Cal Poly Pomona seal are awarded for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 50 years of service. Top administrators and the University President participate in the awarding of the pins. Biographies of 30+ year recipients are requested and read at the ceremony.
CPP Years of Service Recognition Criteria:
- All employees that are considered state-side, Foundation, and ASI, including faculty, are eligible.
- Recipients that achieve their milestone between September 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023 are eligible. (Excludes student workers, rehired annuitants, GA's, TA's, and consultants.)
- Part time employees will receive years of service for their work.
- For future CPP Years of Service Recognition criteria, recipients that achieve their milestone between October 1-September 30 will be eligible.

CPP Years of Service Recognition is usually given out annually during Fall Convocation. For more information, please visit the Staff Council CPP Years of Service Recognition website.
The CPP Years of Service Recognition program at Cal Poly Pomona began in 1975, although the idea was formed by Staff members as early as 1967. After many disappointments in the development of a program to honor staff employees, the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc., agreed to fund a program for both faculty and staff, and the first CPP Years of Service Recognition pins were presented at Fall Conference in 1975. CPP Years of Service Recognition pins have been awarded at each succeeding Fall Convocation and it has now become tradition to present the CPP Years of Service Recognition program as part of Fall Convocation.
