Bronco Scholarship Portal FAQ for Department Staff and Faculty

Scholarship Fest runs from October 1st through March 2nd – for scholarships to be awarded for the next academic year (i.e., October 1 – March 2nd, 2023 for the 2023 – 2024 academic year).

The application period for scholarships is October 1 through March 2.  After reviewing the applications and choosing the recipient(s), you must select scholarship recipients within the Bronco Scholarship Portal (BSP) no later than March 31st of every year.

For assistance with opening a scholarship, please email the scholarships team at scholarships@cpp.edu.

If your first choice for a scholarship does not meet the eligibility criteria, or later becomes ineligible, you should have an alternate recipient ready so that you are prepared to award the scholarship to the next eligible student.

Please email the scholarships team at scholarships@cpp.edu for assistance.

There are few instances in which you may still award graduating seniors funds for the current school year.  However, Federal, State, and CSU Regulations & Policy require that all scholarships must be coordinated with a student's other financial aid - regardless of when the scholarship is awarded.  Late awarding could have a negative impact on a student's overall aid package.

Students must be attending school during the 2023 - 2024 school year in order to receive a scholarship for the 2023 - 2024 year.  If a student has graduated prior to Fall 2023, they would not be eligible to receive a scholarship for 2023 - 2024.

Work with your Director of Development to communicate to the donor the timeframe & award period for Cal Poly Pomona scholarships, and the importance of adhering to Cal Poly Pomona's timeframe.

Currently, we are still capturing requests for scholarship payments through the payment form.  However, the process has changed and scholarship recipients must not be selected within the Bronco Scholarship Portal. We will complete an extract of recipients and forward the department a completed payment form for review and signature.

The portal provides a centralized location for students to apply for scholarships without having to visit multiple websites or locations on campus. It expedites the awarding of scholarship funds to students. Additionally, it makes it easier to track the quantity of scholarships and amount of money awarded.

This is an essential step to a strong culture of philanthropy on campus. We want to be able to share the amazing stories about scholarship recipients and donors.

Lastly, it helps contribute to the university's mission of student-centered success.

The number of scholarships each reviewer is assigned can be designated and reduced or increased by request from your scholarship committee chair.

The number of applications to review can be reduced and reassigned to others in your committee. This should be done prior to beginning the review process. Email the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at scholarships@cpp.edu. Additionally, consider recruiting more reviewers to reduce the number of applications to review.
