Financial Aid and Scholarships

Cross Enrollment

If you are unable to register for the classes you need at Cal Poly Pomona, you may find them at a community college and have the units count toward your financial aid eligibility at Cal Poly Pomona.

For cross enrollment classes to be eligible for at least some financial aid programs at Cal Poly Pomona you must participate in the official CSU Cross Enrollment process, and meet the criteria below:

  • You must be a California Resident, or meet the AB540 eligibility criteria
  • You must be enrolled at least half time (6 units as an undergraduate) through regular Cal Poly Pomona enrollment.
  • You have not transferred the maximum of 70 units from a community college.
  • The course(s) you take must be transferable towards your Cal Poly Pomona degree.
  • You must be making satisfactory academic progress towards your degree at Cal Poly Pomona.
  • You submitted a Cross Enrollment Agreement to the Registrar’s Office, and it was approved
  • You submitted a Request for Evaluation of Coursework from Another Institution to the Registrar’s Office, and it was approved.
  • You received a notification from the Office of Financial Aid at Cal Poly Pomona that your financial aid will be adjusted based on your approved Cross Enrollment coursework.

Courses taken at a community college without participating in the official CSU Cross Enrollment process are not eligible to be included in your eligibility for financial aid.

Many financial aid programs only require a minimum of half-time enrollment (6 units) for undergraduates to be eligible to receive funding.  There are a few programs, however, where the amount you receive is adjusted (or pro-rated) based on your actual enrollmentand which would be impacted by Cross Enrollment:

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Cal Grant Tuition Grant
  • Cal Grant Access Grant
