CLASS Emergency Assistance Program

CLASS Cares

April 20, 2020 Update: At this time, the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) is no longer accepting new applications for the Emergency Program Assistance. The need for our students is tremendous during this time, and because of that, CLASS has received far more requests for assistance than it has funds. Our college will continue to accept financial aid from donors and will provide information on the Emergency Program Assistance if/when additional donor funds are raised.

However, the university has additional resources for students to apply for assistance, including the Bronco Cares Emergency Program. Apply here: Bronco Cares Emergency Grant Application Form.

The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) has established an emergency fund to help our students during this COVID-19 pandemic.

"In these challenging times of the COVID-19 crisis, many of our students are facing dire circumstances: lost jobs, food and housing insecurity, unforeseen emergencies. To help our CLASS students experiencing these situations, I proudly announce the establishment of the CLASS Emergency Assistance Program," said Dean Iris Levine.

CLASS students can apply for a one-time stipend of up to $250 now through Sunday, 4/19/2020 at midnight. To qualify, they must be enrolled in a major within the college during the current academic year and be able to demonstrate an urgent financial need with documentation. If you have questions about the application process, please email class@cpp.edu or call 909-869-3500.

A committee will review applications based upon a rubric provided to us from the Basic Needs Initiative. All information will remain strictly confidential.

The college's program is separate from the university's Bronco Care Basic Needs Program, which also offers grants to students.

The Advisory Board and the Dean’s Office of CLASS have donated toward this urgent effort, and CLASS aims to raise additional funds to support our students who are facing financial hardship due to this global health crisis.

The college will continue to accept donations for the CLASS Emergency Assistance Program. With Giving Day approaching later this month, CLASS will also designate the Dean’s Excellence fund as its priority on that day – which will automatically go toward the Emergency Assistance Program. Additionally, all donations made in April will go directly to the Emergency Assistance Program.

If anyone would like to contribute to the Emergency Assistance Program, please donate online via the Dean’s Excellence Fund.

If you have any questions about making a gift to this fund, please contact Liliane Ribeiro, CLASS Director of Development, at leribeiro@cpp.edu.
