Apply for a Career Development Fee Waiver

The Fee Waiver application process is separate from the regular university admissions process.

Students will need to apply for admission to their prospective university via Cal State Apply and undergo the regular admissions process. Fee Waiver eligibility/approval does not guarantee admission to the university.

When applying you are encouraged to pay the $70 application fee in a timely manner. Upon acceptance to the university, an employee can request a $70 application refund by attaching a receipt of purchase to the fee waiver application. Only one refund request will be granted per attending university. The orientation fee is not covered by the Employee Fee Waiver & Reduction Program.

Once the student has been admitted to the attending university, an Individual Career Development Plan Application will need to be completed and approved by their HEERA manager. The Individual Career Development Plan is a mutual agreement between employee and HEERA manager about the employee’s educational and career goals.

Complete an Individual Career Development Plan (ICDP) (PDF)

Optional: Employees may submit an Alternative Work Schedule (PDF) which is a request to temporarily change their work hours to attend scheduled courses. This request must be approved by the HEERA manager and submitted as an attachment on the Fee Waiver application. Alternative Work Schedule requests will be submitted to Payroll for processing.

The fee waiver can be applied to state funded/regular academic session courses. Courses offered via Extended Learning/Open University/Foundation, are NOT eligible for the fee waiver.

Not sure if your class is eligible? Check the CPP Public Class Schedule to know if your course(s) are listed under regular academic session.

For other CSU Campuses, refer to public class schedule at attending university.
