Hawaii NGO Fieldwork

Students will spend 10 days in Hawaii working with local NGOs that are dealing with the criminal justice pipeline.

The pre-requisite course for this trip for undergraduate students is PLS 3175 & Social Service Outreach and the pre-requisite course for MPA students is MPA 5605 & Criminal Justice Politics & Administration; These courses will be offered in the Fall Semester. Students can take these courses without going on the trip. Students will visit the Halawa Correctional Facility, the Women's Community Correctional Center, and the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility. This trip will also give students an opportunity to find internships or look for employment after graduation in Hawaii. Hawaii is proactively recruiting university graduates form California. Participating students will enroll in CLS 4990 and earn 3 units of credit during the Spring Semester 2024.
