Teaching Assistant

The Teaching Associate classification provides currently enrolled or admitted CSU graduate students with part-time employment offering practical teaching experience in fields related to their advanced study. Teaching Associates are typically responsible for providing classroom and/or laboratory instruction and they may also assist faculty or teaching staff with various professional and technical activities. Work assignments are closely associated with their program of study or the academic department in which they are enrolled.

As a condition of employment, employees must remain academically eligible.

Teaching Associates must be appointed less than full-time, up to a maximum of 14.8 units, while the student is enrolled in classes. Teaching Associates appointed half-time or more may not be appointed concurrently in another classification.

GAs and TAs may work up to full-time (maximum 40 hours) during academic breaks if registered in a CPP graduate degree program and continuing enrollment immediately subsequent to the appointment period, e.g., working full-time during the summer and enrolled in classes in the immediately following fall academic term.

Newly hired employees need to complete onboarding forms and complete the I-9 process. This process is necessary to comply with federal and state laws, as well as to obtain the necessary information to place you on the University's payroll.

For assistance with New Employee Onboarding please contact the onboarding team at hrscsc@cpp.edu or by calling 909-869-3733. Additional resources can be found here.
