Invitation Letter

An invitation letter is an optional letter to assist family member in their application for a tourist visa.

The ISSO no longer provides letters of invitation for relatives of CPP international students who are seeking a Visitor Visa to come to the U.S. A letter from the school is not required and the consul official gives it no weight in the decision process.

If you would like to provide a letter, we have provided a template below. The letter should be written in English and include the following:

  • The names of those you are inviting (names as it appears on the passports)
  • The relationship of those visiting you
  • The purpose of the visit (vacation, attend graduation, meet new baby)
  • The dates of the visit
  • Student can include a copy of their transcript and I-20 with the letter (optional)
