Ashley Ysais
Advising Center Coordinator and Lead Academic Advisor

Ashley Ysais joined the College of Science Advising Center as an Academic Advisor at Cal Poly Pomona in January 2015 and became the Advising Center Coordinator in June 2016. Ashley began her work in higher education at California State University Northridge in 2008, first as a student assistant, then to a full-time support staff position, and finally to a part-time lecturer/ advisor for the Educational Psychology & Counseling graduate department.  Through her various experiences, she has found fulfillment in knowing that she is an advocate for student success and enjoys supporting students in their individual educational journeys.

In August of 2012, she began her graduate program. Through her graduate program, she interned in undergraduate advising centers at California State University, Northridge. Ashley further developed her knowledge and quickly fell in love with learning about the diverse college student population which helped her to be successful within an advisory role.  

Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration with an Emphasis in Higher Education from California State University, Northridge.

Vannessa F. Lopez
Retention & Graduation Specialist

Vannessa Lopez joined the College of Science Advising Center as an Academic Advisor in September 2016 and became the Retention & Graduation Specialist in March 2019. She looks forward to partnering with students to address issues that may affect their educational goals.

During her time as an undergraduate student, Vannessa was fortunate enough to work within several different departments on campus such as the International Student Services Office, Transfer Center and Nursing Advising Center. The experiences at each department allowed her to realize she wanted to continue her professional career supporting and being an advocate for students.

Vannessa is a first generation college student who received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and her Master of Science Degree in Education with an Emphasis in Higher Education Leadership from California State University, Fullerton.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, taking her dog, Chewy, to the park, or going to the movies.

Diana Ascencio
Academic Advisor

Diana Ascencio is the newest Academic Advisor in the College of Science. She is a recent graduate from Cal State Fullerton's Master of Science in Education program with an emphasis in Higher Education, and a CPP Alumni from the College of Business with a Management and Human Resources Bachelor of Science. 

In her undergraduate career, Diana was heavily involved with various groups and organizations on campus. Some of those included DEPIE (the undocumented student club) in various roles, the Multicultural Council as Vice President, and ASI Student Government as Vice President. Diana also worked on campus in the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education as a Social Justice Leader, Orientation Services as an Office Staff, the PolyTransfer Center as the Educational Equity and Access Intern, and Undocumented Student Services as a Program Assistant. 

While in her master's program, Diana spent her time at Fullerton College coordinating a math program to aid students in developing basic math skills to gain skills and confidence to be successful in their college-level/transferable math courses. She also briefly worked as a Residential Education Supervisor at the University Village under CPP Foundation.

Diana is excited to continue enhancing student development and their experiences in the College of Science by connecting students to key resources during advising sessions.
