Welcome!

Cal Poly Pomona's post-baccluarate credential program will prepare you for the challenges of diverse classrooms and assist you to become teacher leaders within your school and community. Our programs are fully accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and meet all state teacher preparation standards. Our programs prepare you to meet the Teaching Performance Expectations and apply student-centered approaches to equip your students for success.

Combined Master's Degree and Teaching Credential Program

Cal Poly Pomona offers credential students the opportunity to pursue both their teaching credential and Master’s of Arts in Education in a combined program, so they can enter the teaching field with advanced knowledge and skills. Students interested in this program should contact Ms. Rebecca Briseno in the CEIS Graduate Studies Office at rbriseno@cpp.edu or 909-869-3452.

Single Subject

The Single Subject Teaching Credential authorizes you to teach specific subjects, most commonly in grades 6-12, but also in pre-school, K-12, or classes for adults. Cal Poly Pomona offers the Single Subject Credential in the following disciplines:

  • Agriculture/Ag Specialist *
  • Art
  • Biological Sciences *
  • Biological Sciences, Specialized
  • Chemistry *
  • Chemistry, Specialized
  • English *
  • Geosciences *
  • Geosciences, Specialized
  • Mathematics *
  • Mathematics Foundational Level
  • Music *
  • Physical Education *
  • Physical Education/Adapted Physical Education
  • Physics *
  • Science, Foundational Level General *
  • Social Sciences *
  • World Languages (Spanish) *

* These programs have subject-matter waivers, which substitute for the CSET. For more information about the program, visit the program overview page.

Multiple Subject

The Multiple Subject Teaching Credential authorizes you to teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom, most commonly in grades K-8, but also in pre-school, K-12, or classes for adults. For more information, visit the program overview page. 

Education Specialist

Cal Poly Pomona offers the Mild/Moderate Support Needs and Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe) credentials. You will be authorized to teach students with varying disabilities from grades K-12 through age 22 and provide services in settings such as: resource rooms, special day classes, special schools, home/hospital settings, correctional facilities, and non-public schools and agencies. Teacher Intern

You can be paid as a teacher of record for a class when qualified teachers are not available. School districts often search for an individual who has either partially completed a credential program and shows great promise of being highly successful or an individual who has the subject matter competence, experience, and maturity to learn the craft of teaching. Added Authorizations

We offer the following Added Authorizations that allow enhanced instruction and must be attached to a valid basic teaching credential: 

Administrative Services Credential

Cal Poly Pomona offers the Administrative Services Credential to those with five years of successful, full-time experience in a public, non-public, or private school setting. The Administrative Services Credential authorizes the holder to provide services in grades 12 and below. For more information, visit the program overview page.

Interested in a career in teaching? Attend an information session. These sessions offer you the opportunity to learn more about our credential programs including:

  • Multiple Subject (Elementary Teacher)
  • Single Subject (Middle School or High School)
  • Education Specialist Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe (Special Education Teacher)
  • Combined Master's Degree and Teaching Credential Program
