Credential Programs

1-Year Teacher Credential Program

There are two ways to obtain a Single Subject Credential in one year, one for Cal Poly Pomona undergraduates and one for all other students. Cal Poly Pomona undergraduates* can begin taking credential courses in their undergraduate studies to earn a Single Subject Credential in 2 semesters with full-time attendance after completing their bachelor’s degree. Students with degrees from other universities can take all foundations courses through Summer Admission, followed by 2 semesters of full-time attendance. See below for more information.

*Junior or senior standing

Cal Poly Pomona undergraduates with junior or senior standing may take up to four credential foundation courses (up to 12 units). A maximum of 9 units may be petitioned to be applied towards graduate credit if the credential courses are taken with senior standing. Please see the Graduate Credit Petition Form for more information or visit the Graduate Studies websiteCredential foundation courses taken as an undergraduate count towards the credential regardless of how the units are applied: undergraduate credit or graduate credit.
