About the Artist

Barbara A. Thomason is a native of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles. She received a Master's Degree in printmaking from California State University, Long Beach,  After graduation, she worked as a master printer in lithography at Gemini G.E.L. where she printed for Robert Rauschenberg, Claus Oldenberg, Jasper Johns, Frank Stella, Ed Ruscha, Ellsworth Kelly, and many others.

Her paintings can be found in both public and private collections. During the last thirty years, she has shown her work in exhibitions at galleries, museums, and universities.

Her artwork includes public site-specific works as well as paintings, drawings, and prints. The work has moved from image-based through abstraction and back again. The focus has mainly been on the urban environment but also includes more personal explorations and portraiture. The mediums used are watercolor, oil paint, cel vinyl, woodcut, and etching.

Barbara taught printmaking, sculpture, and painting at California Polytechnic University at Pomona for many years. She has been on the Art faculty at the University of California, Santa Cruz, University of Redlands, Otis College of Art and Design to mention a few.
