David Jang, a Los Angeles-based sculptor born in Seoul, South Korea, is known for inventive kinetic installations which employ hacked consumer electronics and subverted household appliances. By using electro-mechanical engineering techniques to create interactive motorized artforms, Jang is propelled by the notion of the systems of production and what it means to re-direct the short life of cast-off mechanical parts and equipment into genuine objects of supreme beauty. Recycled and repurposed materials, in turn, become approachable, lovely and infinite. This show is the first in the of the Prequel to 2018 series of exhibitions held at the Kellogg Gallery.
