Sandra Emerson is currently serving as a faculty fellow for the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. . She was the director for the Master’s in Public Administration program for the political science department from 2007 through 2015. In addition, Dr. Emerson has taught courses in public policy and public administration at CPP, the University of La Verne, and the University of Southern California (USC). She has held positions in this area of expertise with private and public sector organizations such as a program administrator for Medicare Part B, consultant with Southern California Edison, and budget and program analyst with the City of Norfolk, Virginia. She has a PhD and Masters degree in Public Administration from USC as well as a BA and MA from Temple University in political science.

Eligio Martinez Jr., Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Educational Leadership Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. His research examines the experiences of boys and men of color throughout the educational pipeline and how institutions create or hinder opportunities for students. He is also a Faculty Affiliate with Project MALES at UT, Austin. Dr. Martinez is currently involved in a multiyear research project funded through the Wallace Foundation that explores the creation of equity based principal pipelines in eighth school districts across the country. Dr. Martinez is a native of Santa Ana, CA and earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Chicana and Chicano Studies from UCLA and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington.

My current research interests include big data security and privacy, health informatics and cyber-security in general. My work has been supported by National Science Foundation, Google Inc, Microsoft Inc, US Department of Education, California State Polytechnic University, Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology, Amazon Inc. and Oklahoma State University

Esperanza Linares is a Customer Success Engineer at MathWorks. She collaborates with faculty, researchers, and students in the United States and Latin America to ensure their success through MathWorks products. Before joining MathWorks, she did her postdoctoral work in the pharmaceutical industry, where she developed a discrete element method model to simulate the compaction of granular materials. Esperanza has used MATLAB for image processing, data visualization, acquisition, and analysis throughout her career. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UNAM (Mexico) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech.

Nelson Brown is leading the autonomous systems perception data collection activities for the Transformational Tools and Technologies project at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center in California. As an aerospace engineer, he conducts flight research of innovative technologies that improve safety and reduce the environmental impact of aviation. During his 15 years at NASA, he has contributed to multiple projects including the Intelligent Flight Control System, Orion Pad Abort Flight Test, X-48 Blended Wing Body, and various autonomous systems flight test missions and was awarded the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal.
