Applicants

Admission to Biological Sciences Department Graduate Program is determined by the members of the graduate faculty and is based on the total academic record of the applicant. Applications will be screened by graduate faculty members, who will advise the Graduate Coordinator when an applicant qualifies for admittance. Admission to the program is competitive, therefore, it is important that all applicants adhere to deadlines, requirements, and sponsor policy.

The application information below is designed to aid those applying to the Graduate Program during the submission process. Follow each step to ensure that all requirements are completed.

Fall Semester applications: 1 February of the preceding Spring Semester

Spring Semester applications: 15 October of preceding Fall Semester

  • Review the detailed information on the application requirements
  • Apply to the Cal Poly Pomona Master’s in Biological Sciences on CSU Apply: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply
  • Include contact information for three references in CSU Apply. The referees will be contacted to directly to upload their letters of recommendation.
  • Include a personal statement with your CSU Apply application. In your personal statement, identify your faculty sponsor.
  • Upload your unofficial transcripts on CSU Apply.
  • Note: GRE scores are not required for application to the Biological Sciences Master’s program.

  • For final admittance to the program, official transcripts must be submitted directly to Cal Poly Pomona. Do NOT submit official transcripts to the Department of Biological Sciences or the Graduate Coordinator, or on CSU Apply.
  • Cal Poly Pomona requests that you send your final official transcripts electronically. If your sending institution does not offer electronic transcripts, we recommend using the following services:
    • National Student Clearinghouse
    • Credential Solutions
  • When sending PDF transcripts, please indicate the recipient email as verify@cpp.edu.
