Graduation means meeting all degree requirements and being awarded a degree. Once the degree is conferred it is noted on the student’s official transcript and the diploma is ordered and mailed directly to the student. Cal Poly Pomona students may graduate in any of the four quarters. On the other hand, commencement is the ceremonial celebration of graduation and is held in June at Cal Poly Pomona. Participating in the Cal Poly Pomona commencement ceremony does not automatically mean that a student has earned a Cal Poly Pomona degree.
If you are an undergraduate student within 8 units of completing your degree requirements after spring quarter classes are recorded and are in good academic standing, then you are eligible to participate early in Commencement prior to graduating.
