Ganpat and Manju Patel Distinguished Lecture Series
Cal Poly Pomona is proud to present an event hosted by the College of Engineering and endowed by Ganpat and Manju Patel. We are pleased to announce our fall 2018 distinguished speaker series:
“What Is Your Personal Vision?”
Presented by: Dr. Randall L. Peeters
Dr. Randall L. Peeters (‘67, aerospace engineering) is currently an inspirational speaker and consultant. Dr. Peeters reached the summit of Mount Everest at the age of 56 and is the second-oldest American to accomplish the feat. He is the eighth person in the world to complete the “Adventurers Grand Slam”—a challenge to climb the highest mountain on each continent and reach both the North and South Poles.
Prior to his outdoor accomplishments, Dr. Peeters was the chief scientist for start-up Power Play Energy where he directed an international multidisciplinary project that revolutionized distributed power generation. Dr. Peeters was also the vice president of engineering and chief scientist for GenCorp Aerojet (now Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings) and was responsible for a spectrum of interdisciplinary projects, including liquid rocket engines, solid rocket motors, satellites, armaments, weapon systems, environmental remediation, resource recovery, chemical synthesis, and pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Peeters has earned Distinguished Alumni honors in both Cal Poly Pomona and the University of Washington’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was also the College of Engineering’s commencement speaker in Cal Poly Pomona’s 2004 commencement ceremonies. He earned his master’s and doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Washington, and he has produced over 35 technical publications and numerous technical presentations.
